This is one of the most incredible kimonos I have ever owned. I don\'t even know where to start and am of two minds about selling. However, I find that I am not really wearing my more elaborate kimonos as much so listing at price that will force me to give up. As you can see the embroidery is simply amazing; very 3D but it is the color that really makes this unique. I have seen these in black and actually owned a black one from 20s/30s but have never seen one in this color. Was very hard to photo as the glorious silk satin has such a gleam that it reflects all the light. The color is blue with a hint of green/gray, not quite a teal; reminds me somewhat of the opalescent coloring you see on pigeon breasts. As you can see the front is fairly plain with the exception of some gold embroidered designs you can see at top on both sides which are repeated on the sleeves. It is the same shade all over; a couple of the pix make it look darker at bottom but that is just from pix. It is in pretty amazing condition for something close to 100 years old and imminently wearable. It\'s hard to tell if there is any slight color discoloration or fade due to the way it gleams so that is a moot point. The only thing I could see on close inspection is a couple of 1/2\" long pencil like marks where I guess the silk is just slightly worn, like a thin scrape on top of fabric; not a hole or anything. I only found when steaming so not at all noticeable. The lining is intact and in good condition; it is a very fine silk. Just a gorgeous piece that could be worn by man or woman.
