Magnificent 19th Century Brussels Lace Cathedral Veil with mixed Bobbin and Point de Gaze Needle Lace appliques. Featuring the best 3 dimensional Point de Gaze Roses in the center.

This veil was very well cared for, the 3-D flowers were lightly stuffed with loose cotton (completely removable) to help keep their shape while in storage over the years. I\'ve never seen Point de Gaze stored that way before, however I think it\'s an excellent idea to help the lace retain it\'s original shape.

This veil is constructed of one single large piece of net ground with fabulous handmade lace appliques and point de esprit throughout. This was not made by inserting another piece of lace in the middle and attaching it. The Point de Gaze center is rounded at the bottom and \"bows\" to complement the rounded outside edging of the train. This was made and designed just as it is today, all original and all gorgeous!

This veil is huge at 118\" long x 78\" wide. It has been cleaned and blocked. Fabulous condition. There are two or three minute thread breaks in the net ground of this entire veil. You must search to find them. That\'s it. No other issues. Condition is magnificent. Incredible condition for a piece this age. Museum collector quality. Wonderful workmanship in the handmade lace.

These are extremely difficult to find, and when they are found, they usually suffer from holes and major condition issues. The underlying net ground on veils of this delicacy deteriorated over 100+ years without deliberate storage to prevent harm. This veil is in remarkable condition and really has no apologies. As mentioned, there are a tiny few single and minute thread breaks in the ground. Completely negligible in this piece.

I have loaded this with pictures both indoors and out, and I still can\'t quite capture the beauty of this as it\'s enjoyed viewing it in person. Destined to be an heirloom, part of a special private collection or museum piece.
