STUNNING ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 18K GOLD ENGLISH ROSE-CUT DIAMOND SOLITAIRE RING 1840:

A superb antique early Victorian English, solid 18 carat gold (tests thereabouts) solitaire diamond ring. Beautifully made with thick gold band and split shoulders, its head has a hand chased ornate bezel around a stunning large white rose-cut diamond in a raised silver setting. The diamond is an exceptionally large old mine-cut stone with the distinct silvery glisten only available from these hand-cut antique stones,it spreads roughly 1 carat or slightly less (currently 7 x 6 mm)and is cloudy with visible inclusions.It dates from around1840/50 and isinvery good, fully wearablecondition, with an oldreplaced band andlarge 3 x 1 mm chiptothe edge of the diamond. It\'s perfectly stable as is, but if desired this could be improved byraising the mount to cover the loss or filling it.It weighs4.0grams,the head of the ringmeasures18 x 16 mm and its ring size is 7 ½ US / P UK - reasonably easily resized if needed. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coinfor scale, which measures19mm/ ¾ of an inchdiameter.
