This is for a simplyexquisitepair of Art Deco period 9ct gold, paste set, cluster/ daisy style earrings.
Paste was first discovered in 1724 by French Jewel designer Georges Frederic Strass. It shimmered and sparkled like the most precious of diamonds. They were set into the finest jewellery andbecamean instant hit with the Parisian high Society. Throughout the following Centuries the discovery of paste revolutionised jewellery making. They were set into the most glamorous items of jewellery. Paste was not used as a replacement for diamonds but held in high esteem in its own right.Highly skilled artisans crafted paste jewellery with the same passion as if using diamonds.Their work would be a part of every ladies evening jewellery attire. Paste was used up until around the 1930\'s-1940\'s. These exquisite, classically timeless and sophisticated Art Deco paste earrings are designed in a delightful daisy cluster style. To the center is a fine old mine cut diamond glass paste. It is the largest paste and measures 6.7mm and is prong set. This is surrounded by 9 smaller old mine cut pastes, approximately 2.8mm each. All are safely and securely claw set with 9ct gold claws. These superb and striking pastes radiate great brilliancy and fire. Their sparkle combined with their cluster design is truly amazing, throwing bursts of brilliant, shimmering radiance as they move in the light. They are simply breathtaking and veryeye catching, bound to draw many compliments.
They measure 12.30mm in diameter.
Theexquisiteearrings fasten with a 9ct gold hook style fastening.
The reverse sides are hallmarked \"9CT\" for 9 carat gold and marked with a patent number \"483401\", commonly found on paste earrings.Weight approximately 1.94 grams
