This is a dream set for reenactors, authentic period costumers, seamstresses or others wishing to attach original 19th century buttons to their designs. Also great for dealer stock. A simple yet beautiful set of 6 small antique Victorian era domed peasant buttons made of sterling silver. While these buttons are often very difficult if not impossible to date and determine country or origin these buttons are believed to be late19th or early 20th century and likely Dutch in manufacture. Six high domed buttons with slanted panels attached to a ring of beads surrounding a beaded top or center of the button. The buttons measure 10/16ths inch in diameter and are 5/16ths inch top to bottom excluding the thin silver wire loop shank. They have the two \'air\' holes to allow for escaping gas generated as part of the manufacturing process. They are marked 800 a European designation for Sterling or high grade silver (800 parts silver). This silver is often referred to as coin silver. It was not though good enough to be used routinely for jewelry. It was however used often in the late 19th and early 20 centuries in continental Europe. The buttons are in very fine condition; appear to have never been used. Buy with confidence as all my items arrive with an unconditional return policy.
