Stunning Vintage Japanese Yamasan Modernist Ikebana Vase, 1950s:

Here onoffer is a stunning vintage Japanese Yamasan modernist ikebana vase, dating tothe 1950s.

Thiswonderful piece has a been made using earthenware, it has a gorgeous thick richjade coloured glaze on the inner surface with a thick white splatter glaze onthe outside. The vase is made from two circular segments that are offset givingthe stylish modernist shape that works so well in the art of ikebana. The basehas a transfer mark that reads:

MADE INJAPAN

There isalso the impressed mark for the Yamasan pottery that was based in Toyo. Ibelieve that this pottery is no longer in operation, but were famed for theirhighly stylised architectural pieces.

The ikebanavase is being offered in excellent vintage condition, it measures about 28.3cm by10cm by 6cm and weighs 877g.
