Thisbook combines the diaries of three officers in 1/5thBattalion, The Cheshire Regiment to tell the story of theirexperiences on the Western Front in WW1 from 1915-1918. The threemen are Thomas L.C. Heald (the author’s father), Adrian E. Hodgkin,and George M. McGowan.
Thebook covers their service at Ypres, on the Somme, at Gommecourt,Leuze Wood, Cambrai, Arras and elsewhere. The battalion served in14thBrigade of 5thDivision, as the Pioneer Battalion of that Division, and finally withthe 56th(London) Division.
Thebook is in good clean condition with minor shelf wear and slight wearto the edges of the dustjacket.
Aninteresting and well-researched book, apparently quite uncommon, forthe Cheshire Regiment collector, or the general WW1 enthusiast.
