Description
Here we have a wonderful pair of antique and original ship\'s decanters, to be sold individually - if you\'d like to buy the pair, you must hurry and select the quantity of #2 before usingthe buy it now feature. Price is for each, not for the pair.
They are made of glass and they come with very heavy and original glass stoppers,whichwere used to resist the vigorous movements of theship when you put them down on the table. These decanters were made in the early 19th century, probably Regency or very close to the Victorian era, followingthe tradition of late 18th century Georgian ship\'s decanters.
Please refer to Christie\'s South Kensington, November 19th 2003, Sale #9743, Lots #118 and #119, for an almost identical pair [although one of the Christie\'s decanters seems to have a replacement stopper, whilst ours are both original]
Condition
One of the stoppers has had a smallbump to the cylinder base. Very mild cosmetic scratches. No cracks, no chips, no hairlines, no repairs. Overall in near mint condition.
Measurements
Each measures approximately 24cm / \"9.4 in height
and 22.5cm / \"8.9 base diameter
There should be slight measuring differences between them, as one weighs 1537 grams and the other 1603g, without the stoppers; the stoppers weigh 207 and 219 grams.
