Fresh from a local estate being offered for sale with (Continental United States Only - no exceptions)is this Early vintage dated 1889 high gloss / finish & artist signed Rookwood CreamerThis outstanding piece of early Rookwood pottery is approximately 5 1/4\" from spout to handle or front to back. Then it measures almost 4 1/2\" across the bowl area or side to side.The height is close to 3\" at the unusually shaped handle area.On the bottom it is marked with the \"Rookwood Logo\" as well as the Rookwood FlameThe flame consists of 3 bars above the logo which indicates this was made in the 3rd year of production or in 1889.The artist\'s initials are inscribed as \"amv\" for Anna M Valentien. This is what I do believe one would call a standard glaze for that period.It has what appear to be 3 main marigold style floral arrangements on the sides. The underside is also marked with \"328\" numerical code as well as the letter \"S\". The butterfly wing style of handle is unusual in the fact that it apparently hand molded and applied.Please excuse the \"reflected areas\" from the flash on the camera - these are not bad spots in the pottery. As far as the overall condition it is excellent with only minor usage or a lightness of the gloss finish on the sides. Also on the underside there is what I am going to call a firing separation in the pottery. (please refer to the pictures)Other than these 2 minor issues it is in fantastic condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The creamer will be secured in bubble wrap with the remaining portion of the box being filled with peanuts.Plus it will be Double Boxed to insure a safe delivery.
