Being offered for sale is this Superb Southern Victorian Walnut Secretary Desk w Maple Interior & Key circa 1875.This fabulous 19th century piece is signed on the back \"D.A. Smith & Co., Wilmington, NC\". We believe this piece to be all original having its original finish, glass and leather top on the writing desk area. This piece also features beautiful carved pulls on the drawers, period dovetailed ends on the drawers and oval molding on the desk front and the drawer fronts.

This splendid secretary desk measures 86 \" (7 ft 2 in)in height from the floor to the top , height from the floor to the base top measures 32 1/2 inches,with a total width of 41 1/2 inches, depth at the base of 20 inches, depth at the top portion measures 11 inches and the height from the fold down writing desk to the floor measures 32 1/4 inches and this secretary desk weighs approximately 145 lbs and does disassemble into 2 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving.

The bookcase portion at the top features its original wavy glass and inside are two adjustable shelves for displaying books and collectibles.Below the bookcase portion the fall front desk portion features a multitude of cubbies the maple fronts and a small storage drawer with what we believe to be the original leather writing surface intact. The key does work the bookcase portion as well as the desk.

This spectacular Victorian secretary desk has all the Southern charm and elegance andexcellent craftsmanship one expects to find in these 19th century pieces and would make a great addition to about any room of your home to be used and cherished for many more years to come.
