Here for your consideration is an absolutely magnificent, late 20th century, 16\" Poole Charger, by iconic artist Tony Morris. It depicts a pair of Toco Toucans perched on a branch, set within a tropical fig tree savanna setting, surrounded by olive green leaves.

The glazing colouring in this charger is really quite sublime with pastelgreen, olive green, silver grey, brown, blue, yellow, magenta and a lovely burnt orange,edged in a stunning aquamarine accentuated with textured black highlights.

Its a modernist abstract depiction with regards a tropical setting, the woodland and its moods.The detailed colouring of the toucans give this charger a real romantic feel, leading you to believe you\'re actually there, watchingthese delightful birds in their natural habitat.

The base has a printedPoole stampinblack script with \'Poole StudioEngland\' and the dolphin.Theserial number B53 and the TM initials for Tony Morris.

It\'s in absolute fantastic original condition with no chips, scratches,fleabites orrestoration, areallyfabulous piece of Poole pottery. I\'m afraid my photos aren\'t doing thismagnificent Poole chargertruejustice, because thelight refection is hindering the exquisite visual appeal, of this spectacular vibrant charger.Whoever purchases this charger will not be disappointed because itsexquisite, artistic workmanship is simply stunning.

As you can see from my pictures thisstunning chargerseems to colour shift, depending on room lighting conditions, which is quite striking, it looks different at certain times of the day, you never seem to get fed up of looking at it. A real fantastic design conceptfrom one the worlds bestceramic makers.

Tony Morris ...

Avacancy at the Poole Pottery Studio was advertised at the Poole Employment Exchange in 1962 and details were passed to other employment exchanges throughout Britain. In South Wales the vacancy came to the attention ofTony Morris. Newly qualified from Newport School of Art and with no previous ceramic training, Tony was recruited by Robert Jefferson on the strength of his painting. The rest is history. Tony Morris is without doubt the most Iconic artist ever to have worked for Poole pottery, his pieces are collected, admired and revered the world over !!

Toco Toucan…

Also known as the common toucan, giant toucanor simply toucan, is the largest and probably the best known speciesin the toucanfamily. Mainly feeding on fruit itis found in semi-open habitats throughout a large part of central and Eastern South America.

Unlike the other members of the toucan family, it is essentially a non-forest species. It can be found in a wide range of semi-open habitats such as woodland, savannaand other open habitats with scattered trees, Cerrado, plantations, forest-edge, and even wooded gardens.
