Superb antique Victorian 14k Onyx & Sardonyx 2 Sided Locket Pendant Mourning :

Very pretty antique Victorian Locket Pendant, in 14k yellow gold. One side has a Flat Black Onyx Cabochon, the other a Flat Orange Brown/White Sardonyx Cabochon, each Multi-Prong Set in crown-like prongs. The sides have etched scrolls and the bale is wide and flared. Not marked, tested to be 14k. Total length with bale is app. 1.75\" by app. 7/8\" wide and 1/2\" thick. Opens up to over 2.5\" stretched out. It is a locket, perhaps not for photos, for hair, or mementos like a mourning piece. You can see the top of the sardonyx is a milky color, sides orange brown, but inside orange brown. Inside of the onyx is white/grey with some vein lines - not cracks. The gold work is very pretty, and this is a substantial piece. Under magnification we see chip on the onyx\'s edge by the bottom - see 2nd photo, bottom right; both cabochons have very little surface wear, with little wear on the gold. Weighs 5.9 dwt or 9.17 grams. A fabulous old locket in nice shape for its age. Please do ask questions and look closely at the photos, ships free.
