This is a superb quality antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate bracelet.( NOT A BROOCH OR PIN ).The engraved silver work and agate section insert gives the impression of a continuous Celtic knot design along the bracelet. The agates and silver are in exquisite condition. Please look at all the pictures to fully appreciate how beautiful this piece is!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The superb stones are quality grey and white banded agates from Montrose in Angus.
The bracelet has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is sterling silver. The bracelet length is 17.5 cm ( Just under seven inches ) with max. width 2.1 cm ( two fifth of an inch ) and the snap type clasp is in good working condition and original. The bracelet has it\'s original and good working safety chain which I had removed briefly to take pictures of the bracelet fully extended. The chain is now securely back in place.
