This is a fabulous big antique Victorian circa 1890 Scottish Cairngorm citrine brooch. This is a very high quality piece in exquisite condition with just the most beautiful engraving on the front!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stunning stone is a large brandy citrine from the Cairngorm mountain range that has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is a genuine citrine.The citrine is 2.2 cm in width which is just under one inch.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is 18 carat solid gold. The width is big at 4.0 cm ( one and three fifth inches ) and the C clasp and pin are in good working condition and original and has an original loop on the back to fit a safety chain and pin if required.
