We are listing this superb very rarely seen little late 1700s diamond molded English Georgian glass cream pitcher. Although it is unmarked (true of almost all old glass pieces), the quality of the glass and its particular style of design indicates it was made in England in the late 1700s. The diamond shaped design on this piece was made by pincering together adjacent vertical ribs to create the diamond pattern, and you can see a discussion of these \"nipt diamond wales\" on page 71 of THE GOLDEN AGE OF ENGLISH GLASS 1650-1775 (they were used in Venetian and Catalonian glass as early as the 15th century, and were first seen in English and Dutch glass in the late 17th century). The pitcher has an elegantly shaped balluster body decorated with striking diamond wales, a very nicely shaped rim, a pretty applied swan neck handle which ends in a decorative pincered and folded terminal, and a slightly kicked up base with a rough pontil. It is almost 3.25 inches tall, 3 inches at its widest point, it makes a beautiful little display piece, and it is in very good condition. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. A spectacular looking piece of 230 year old Georgian glass in a very rarely seen design.
