Rare TEAL GREEN 1950\'s Moriage DRAGONWARE 21 Piece Tea Set of Fine Porcelain

Moriage is a special type of raised decoration used on some Japanese pottery. Sometimes pieces of clay were shaped by hand and applied to the item; sometimes the clay was squeezed from a tube in the way we apply cake frosting. One type of moriage is called Dragonware by collectors. Moriage pieces were often unmarked and were known for their highly stylized decorations and gilding. This set is marked with \"Made in Occupied Japan.\"

Teapot with matching lid: 8 1/2 x 6\"

Creamer: 3 1/2 x 2 1/2\"

Sugar Dish with matching lid: 6 1/2 x 4\"

6 Cups: 3 5/8\" diameter

6 Saucers: 5 1/2\" diameter

6 plates: 7 1/4\" diameter

The cups interior are done in an iridescent glaze which nicely contrasts the teal green primary color. These are very delicate cups.

Each piece of the tea service is individually created and therefore show slight differences.

This set of fine porcelain shows minimal wear. Due to its\' very delicate composition, there are a few very minor wear spots to edges and rims that don\'t take away from the appeal.
