Grading System, taken fromthe Rare Record Price Guide book.
Mint (M) The record itselfis in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in soundquality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet orposter are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or unplayed shouldbe Mint.
Near Mint (NM) The recordlooks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and onlythe smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extrasare clean crisp and with no wear whatsoever.
Excellent (EX) The recordshows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening insound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The recordhas obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration insound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional lightscratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any majordefects, is acceptable.
Good (G) The record hasbeen played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhapswith some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer fromfolding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
Fair (F) The record isstill just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displaysconsiderable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will betorn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P) The record willnot play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover andcontents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
