I must let you know this is a smoking home with pets. Some people are very sensitive to smoking odors or pets and/are allergic andsmell things that I\'m not even aware of. These books have also been shelved by a fireplace for decades, and paper can pick up odors. Some people buy anyway and then leave negative or neutral response concerning odors, and bad response destroys sellers. I am letting you know ahead of time to avoid this, please be fair in return. I wouldn\'t offer anything for sale that wasn\'t worth it. Other than this, the booksarein good condition. And I love the smell of really old books, it brings back memories of the library books I borrowed when I was a child. Will ship these special rare books in a medium Priority mailbox to anywhere in the US.and Iwill include insurance for shipping in the USA. I ship within one day of payment. No international shipping.

The information above about these books is incorrect as far the publisher and publishing date, as this set are originals. These are vintage antique books, a complete set of The North American Natural History, Fireside Edition printed in 1914, written by Wiiliam T. Hornaday, Sc.D, Director of the New York Zoological Park. The original of this book was published in 1904 and this 4 volume set came out 10 years later. The reason for this is explained in the preface of these volumes. The main reason is because in the ensuing 10 years, so much new information was learned and accumulated about the animals and the author feels it is terribly important that the population is givena chance to learn about our \"best friends\" and that a quail is not only found on the dinner table. The books are stunningly illustrated with colorful paintings and black and white photos and drawings. They are in very good condition but have no jackets, if they ever did. On the inside front cover a woman\'s name is stamped and the original price for 4 volumes is written in pencil, $6.00. The pages are yellowed but not torn or written on that I saw, I did not look at every single page. The books were shelved for decades probably in a living room on shelves thatflanked a fireplace. They are not well read and \"thumbed through\", they belonged to one family. This is quite a \"find\", as all 4 volumes together and in decent condition is a rarity. They are heavy books, all 4 together weigh 13 pounds. Volume 1: Mammals, 270 pages, Volume 2: Mammals (concluded) Birds, 332 pages, Volume 3: Birds (concluded) 304 pages, Volume 4: Reptiles, Amphibians and Fishes, 340 pages. Books measure 8 3/4\" x 6 1/4\". Published by Charles Scribner\'s Sons, New York, 1914. 99 years old and lookin good!

USED BOOK STATEMENT: No returns or refunds on used, older books, you are buying as is, don\'t expect a brand new fresh smelling book. Although I wouldn\'t offer anything for sale that I wouldn\'t buy. I will describe any bad points I notice as best I can, thanks for looking.
