The Lovedu [Lobedu] people are an African tribe of the Northern Sotho group. They have their own kingdom, the Balobedu Kingdom, within the Limpopo Province of South Africa with a female ruler, the Rain Queen Modjadji.
The Balobedu originally migrated south from Zimbabwe to their present location in South Africa. The central tribal village is Khehlakone in the district of Balobedu.

22 x 14 cm.xv + 335 pp + b/w photo plates + folding colour map.

A good reading copy, cloth faded on spine, ring stain to front board, previous owners armorial bookplate on front pastedown, a few pencil annotations and underlining, one of the maps has been neatly coloured in. Still a decent copy.
