Kenneth Anderson would say that each man-eater is different from any other. Hence every story he has to tell of these beasts and of how he hunted them down, is, like the creature itself, unique, offering new circumstances and new problems, requiring new solutions. Yet his gift, displayed here in every tale, for recreating the atmosphere of the jungle, and his skill at making his readers share the excitements, fears and enigmas of each pursuit, are undiminished. These tales are little masterpieces, full of pictorial magic and dramatic tension, while their veracity is only too clear in the striking simplicity of the narrative.
But the author is more than a hunter: he has a very deep love for the wildlife of India, and is deeply saddened by the rapidity with which it is being destroyed by the encroachments of modern life. Very soon, he feels, much of it will have disappeared for ever. So, in addition to his tales of man-eaters, he has given us two delightful chapters on the wonders of jungle life as he has known them, and on the general principles of jungle tracking both by day and night.

The author hunted panther, wild boar, and bison in the Mysore region, and tiger in the Biligiri-Rangan Mountains. This is one of the more uncommon of Anderson\'s many titles. (Czech, Bibliography of Asian Big Game Hunting Books.)
