For sale is a item from the desk set fancy goods line made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a bronze card tray and it is done in the very desirable \"Abalone\" desk set pattern. The card tray stands 1 7/16\" tall and has a diameter of 9\".The pattern is a very pleasing Arts and Crafts pattern. It consists of a stepped bowl done in a acid etched finish with the exterior edge displaying a geometric border with stylized \"Forget Me Not\" Flowers. The plate is further embellished with round abalone inserts set into decorative arched panels next to the stylized flowers. The card tray is finished in the very hard to find silver patina. I think the silver patina ones with the Abalone inserts were by far the nicest of the finishes for this very popular desk set item.

The card tray is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or major dents to the metal. There are the typical normal age spots and one area shows wear down to the gold bronze below. The underside shows a darker patina patina. The tray is signed on the underside with the impressed \"Tiffany Stvdios New York\" along with the pattern number \"1723\". All of the Abalone inserts appear to be original and none replaced nor missing. The V in the spelling of\"Studios\" denotes this as an earlier piece. Tiffany stared using a 3 digit numbering system after 1902 subsequently this card tray was made circa 1902-1907.

This will make a wonderful addition to those collecting desk set pieces made by L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile, expecially in The Abalone desk set pattern. This finish rarely comes up and I have only seen 1 other in all my 40+ years as a dealer and align=\"center\">CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SEE MY OTHER sales
