( The very PRECIOUS MORGANITE GEMSTONE is little known in our countries, even by specialists. Just as emerald and aquamarine, it\'s a gemstone that\'s part of the Beryls family and that varies in natural shades going from white very pale, pinkish to pinkish salmon through the all range of pink until the pinkish orange or even purplish. It\'s the manganese that gives the Morganite its pinkish colours. The Morganite has a hardness of 7,5-8 therefore equivalent to that of other beryls. This pinkish beryl was called Morganite in 1911 after the name of the American minerals collector J.P.MORGAN who discovered it in the early beginning of the XXth century in South California.

The nicestqualityMorganites are mined in Madagascar ( region of Ambalavao ) where she was discovered around 1908, but she is mainly found in Brazil (state of Minas Gerais) and Afghanistan as well ( and then in lesser quantities in Mexico, Mozambique, Myanmar -exBurma- and Namibia ). The nicest qualities are used in jewellery. It will give to a jewel a very particular brightness and of course this character of exception and exclusivity so much promoted in jewellery piecesof art )

( LaMorganiteest très peu connue dans nos pays, même par des spécialistes.Tout comme l’émeraude et l’aigue-marine, c\'est une gemme de la famille des Béryls et qui varie dans desteintes naturelles allant du blanc rosé très pâle au rosé saumoné en passant par toute la gamme des roses jusqu’au rose orangé ou mauvé. C’est le manganèse qui lui donne ses couleurs rosées. Elle a une dureté de 7,5-8 donc équivalente à celle des autres béryls. Ce béryl rosé fut baptisé Morganite en 1911 du nom du collectionneur Américain de minéraux J.P.Morgan qui la découvrit tout début du XXème siècle en Californie du Sud. Les plus belles Morganites proviennent de Madagascar (région d’Ambalavao) où elle fut découverte vers 1908, mais on la trouve aussi principalement au Brésil ( état du Minas Gerais ) et en Afghanistan ( puis en moindres quantités au Mexique, Mozambique, Myanmar -exBurma- et Namibie ).
