Topps (formerly Topps Chewing Company started in 1938 in Brooklyn, NY) produced Bazooka Chewing Gum shortly after World War II and started including their now famous Bazooka Joe comic stripin their bubble gum packagingin 1953. Bazooka gum had a distinctive name, taste, and red/white/blue packaging which evoke a sense of nostalgia for those who bought the gum for a nickel or less back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. This Lunch Box features characters from the comic strip around all four sides, each identified by name. This is a great addition to any collection as an iconic piece of Americana. The lunch box featured in the listing photos is the exact item to be shipped. Please see the photos for condition.
The lunch box is in very good to excellent condition with some scratches on the side opposite the lid and some flaking of the gold-colored trim. It shows well and the inside is near mint and appears to have never been used except as a display piece. The handle and latch are in good working order.
