TRADITIONALELDERBERRY BRANCH FLUTE NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTE SONGBOOK PEYOTEBEADWORK “E”.

Elderberrybranches have been used by the Nez Perce and other Northwesterntribes since ancient times for making the Native American Flute. (Í·?retì·yahs uríhwakà-ye? caweryahskáhre uhè·wareh –“Tuscarora”- I make traditional Elderberry Flutes).

OurElderberry is Native to the Southern Wallowa Mountains and SnakeRiver Drainage. AmericanFlutes made of Native Elderberry are our Specialty.

Thisflute is 23 1/4” long with a 3/4” bore. Totem and mouthpiece aremade from Eastern Oregon Juniper. The Juniper came from an oldhomestead here in Eastern Oregon.

ThePeyote beadwork (Museum Quality) is beaded around a golden buckskinleather band – hand sewn around the flute. The beadwork ispermanently attached to the flute; these are Toho size 8 glass seedbeads.

Thisflute was made following the directions in my book “MAKING CUSTOMNATIVE AMERICAN ELDERBERRY FLUTES” - see sellers other items.

Thefingerholes are burned in the traditional way, tuning the flute asthe holes are burned using the Burning Tool. Each fingerhole has asun symbol burned around it. The fingerholes are burned 1 1/8”apart, making the holes easy to reach and play. The voice (with theslightest breath) is loud and clear in every note, It is very nicely tuned to the base note of E.

Thebase color is light to medium brown with gray and brown accents andthe flute has a nice finish. There are some very striking contrastareas between the flute base color and the knots with the darkerdepressions.

Theflute is numbered and signed for collectors.

Iam including two FREE gifts with the flute. A Song Book, whichincludes full playing instructions, and fingercharts of both NativeAmerican and American Folk songs. Even a newly interested person canlearn to play this beautiful instrument in just a short time.

Thesecond Free gift is the hand painted and ceremonial decoratedFeather. The Peyote beadwork on the feather has the same colors asthe flute, and are size 11 Toho seed beads. This is a hair tie forNative American dance, but can be used on the flute, a flute bag, cowboy hat, the mirror of a car or truck, or just hang it on the wall– makes an interesting conversation piece and looks great. You maygive it as a gift to honor someone in your flute circle.
