TrevorSouthey created \"Rosa\" some time prior to 1989, most of which he hand-colored. Thisetching is number 22 of 70.It was purchased Salt Lake City in 1989 and professionally framed in 2009. It is pencil signed, titled and numbered by the artist.
\"Rosa\" is Southey\'s originalrenditionof the flower which laterinspired \"Sarah\'s Rose\" which he created much later in life. Prints of \"Sarah\'s Rose\" are stillreadily available for sale online\"Rosa\" is now a rare find.
TREVOR SOUTHEY(1940-2015 American): Southey was bornin Africa where he converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daySaints. He studied art in Sussex,England and received two degrees at Brigham Young University in Provo. Much hasbeen written about him, including references to his love of flowers. His garden was a place of refuge, rest and enjoyment. This quotation captures his outlook about everything from roses to the many topics of controversy he embraced: \"He refused to see evil. He refused to see ugliness.He refused to look at a world that wasn\'t idyllic, where beauty didn\'t reign.\"

CONDITION:This etching is in excellent condition. The soft pastel colors are vibrant. The front of the frame looks great. There is some evidence of wear to the sides of the frame including minor variations in color, light scratches and a bit of paint loss at the corners. Note there is some lint under the glass, including a speck of white on a flower petal (top right).
DIMENSIONS: The etching is 4.5\" by 4.5\". The artwork (etching and signed white mat) is 5.5\" x 5.5\" and framed, this piece is 9.5\" by 9.5\"
