TWO Physics books from the Library of 1959 Nobel Prize winner Emilio Segre:
$65.00

This sale consists of TWO books from the personal library of 1959 Noble Prize winner in physics, Emilio Segre. One has a printed book ownership design that Emilio has written his name and date (1942) in ink. The other book is from his library but has NO name or Stamp with his name. But it also came from his library. Emilio Segre (1905-1989) was born in Italy but being Jewish he immigrated to America. From 1943 to 1946 he worked at the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico as a group leader for the Manhattan Project. 1942 the date written by Segre in Textbook of Thermodynamics, is the year Oppenheimer asked him to join the Manhattan Project. The other book was published in 1948, after the war. Together they are artifacts of the history of physics even if part of a dark side of the development of super powerful weapons of war. Emilio Segre\'s life is quite fascinating and these books of his came from prime years of his work and research. Look him up on Wikipedia. These came from the collection of a rare book dealer near where Segre taught at U.C. Berkeley. I have put a starting price that is what the book dealer marked these but they are rather unique copies. Because of weight and expensive shipping charges these two are for U.S. buyers ONLY. Thank you. I will ship by Media Mail.
