A clever old folding candleholder from Japan created by Tanaka Hisashige, 19th century inventor and designer who also started the company that would become Toshiba. Made of brass and copper....a useful pricket candlestick when opened, adjustable in position and stable on its tripod base, folding down to a compact packet for travel. Beautifully made; functional and elegantly styled. This one is complete and in greatshape; a good one for the collector!
