Offered for offer at is a consecutive serial numbered pair (1896 1897) of Lancaster speakers. The cabs are loaded with very early 15\" Monitor Gold drivers. The drivers are serial numbered 085657 and 083865. I believe these are within a year or less of the 15\" Monitor Red series that came before. The Golds handle more power and were a refinement of the Red primarily for the changing market which had solid state coming in and the use of these in professional recording Environments. I believe Lancasters were used at Abbey Road Studios for a period before they went with B&W 801\'s in the late 1970\'s. I think these date to around 1968 or so. These Lancasters are the higher end furniture grade cabs constructed of birch ply and also MDF. They differ differ slightly in the Lancaster utility cabs which are taller and have less depth and don\'t have the lattice work grills. I read somewhere that the Lancaster is pretty much an idea cab for the 15 golds besides the horn loaded monsters. They produce a truly balanced and dynamic sound. The drivers are nearly matches impedance wise: 085657 measures 11.2 ohms on the tweeter and 5.7 ohms on the mid bass. 083865 measures 10.7 ohms on the tweeter and 5.7 ohms on the mid woofer. Crossovers are all original. One has a replacement level knob. As you can see the cabs have beed painted white at one point. These speakers were part of a locker that was filmed but did not get used for the show Storage Wars in Sherman Oaks. A collegue buys storage lockers and Barry and the others did not offer on the unit, the audio pieces were buried and a friend won the sale along with B&W 801\'s also painted white another pair of Lancasters among other things. The white paint may suit the WAF factor. They have a shabby chic modern look to them but also the Walnut beneath could be stripped fairly easily and it will have been well protected by the white paint from many years ago. Casters have been added for ease of movement. These speakers are fully working and sound fantastic. No voice coil rubs on the drivers. I would strongly prefer local pick up here in Santa Barbara California. I can however strap the two speakers to a wooden pallet for a freigh forwarding company to pick up. I will not ship the cabs myself or make arrangements so if you want to offer please look into the many options for freight. I can also ship just the 15\" drivers/crossovers/level controls and terminals well boxed to any world wide destination. Bear in mind it will be expensive. Please email for a quote.
