I have had this a while and never cleaned it it doesn\'t seem to tarnish much. I gave it a once over with some cleaning cotton. The plating is not worn away and still looks good since 1893 as it is marked Rogers & smith new haven conn 1893.

As far as faults some minor dings around the rims one foot has a slight fracture but strong sturdy stands on all four feet . The creamer and sugar appear to be gold plated on the inside to further protect against tarnishing. The cased or hand carved detail work on the outside is exquisite. There were several steps in the manufacture one being acid etching engraving punching. The handle is insulated from heat by two wafers of mother of pearl. The spout has a built in strainer on the inside of the pot .Meridian copied this set but it was far inferior to the quality i see here.This is a lovely looking and usable set.
