Ted Kennedy Autograph On Vintage United Airlines Menu 1967 - Great Story For Salestill liquidating my mother's house. came upon this vintage united airline's first class menu with ted kennedy's autograph on it.what is awesome is the story behind it.my mother and my then 13 yo sister were flying from boston to milwaukee. there were no direct flights so this flight was from boston to chicago -- where they connected.
my sister was on crutches just having had surgery. as the plane boarded they kept my mom and sister in the gate area and did not let them board. when it was all boarded they put them in first class across the aisle from each other. the person sitting next to my mother was US Senator Edward M. Kennedy.cool enough.Well...when they were coming in to land the crew notified the passengers that they weren't sure of the landing gear came down and would possibly making a crash landing. they took away everyone's shoes and glasses and were told to assume the crash position. they even foamed the runway. but it turned out the gear was, in fact, down.Ted Kennedy offered to give up his seat so my sister and mother could be next to each other but my mother refused. He told her that he knew everything would be ok because his time had already come and he survived -- he had been in a really bad plane crash and broke his back. he was finally recovered.i guess he was on his way to oklahoma to give a speech.so the meaning behind this is interesting -- i think anyway. what a thoughtful and insightful man.there is a crease on this menu but it doesn't violate the autograph. Which says Ted Kennedy U.S.S. there is a little rip in the seam of the fold as well.
