Overall condition: Fine condition with near fine dustjacket. Very clean and bright as if straight off original bookseller\'s shelf.
I have never seen an early Penguin in such beautiful condition. The dazzling orange and white are s clear and bright on both book and Dustjacket. Neither have I seen such whiteness of the pages as in this volume.
Very readable and poignant story of a colonel\'s daughter living a repressed and narrow life in a village. Until the arrival of her handsome cousin from abroad. Addington writes with pathos and understanding of the lost generation of women following the Great War
Very early 1st edition Penguin Book 1939 complete with Dustjacket . Highly collectable. Number 203 of Penguins published.
Cover of book in fine condition, clean bright, the white parts are absolutely white with a few very pale foxing spots. Spine very good and uncreased.
Book in fine condition - pages are white ( very rare), uncreased, clean, unmarked and firm. Binding nice and tight. There is some light tanning to the front pages and very light tanning to bottom of all pages. There is a faint imprint of owners signature in pencil on frontispiece page which seems to have been erased.
Dustjacket - would be fine, but has shelf rub to upper spine. Price uncut. The cleanest, brightest DJ I\'ve ever seen
This is a Fine early first edition Penguin book complete with its original dust-jacket which is in Near Fine condition. As fine an early Penguin as I have ever seen.
