About the subject.....

The Hon. Mrs Lavinia Glynne was the youngest daughter of William Henry, Lord Lyttleton and Lady Sarah Spencer, daughter of George John, Earl Spencer.

The Lyttleton family have been of long standing and distintion in the counties of Worcester & Salop, and their names are prominent in the annal of this country......

NB: This engraving comes with a brief printed history of Miss Bury\'s family background.

About the Artist......

George Richmond (1809-1896)

Portrait painter and draughtsman; he was the son of Thomas Richmond and artist associated with 325 portraits in the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Painter and miniaturist. Richmond studied at the Royal Academy Schools where he met and formed a lifelong friendship with Samuel Palmer. With Edward Calvert and Palmer he formed The Ancients, who painted visionary landscape in the manner of William Blake.

After his marriage in 1831, Richmond concentrated on portraiture, becoming one of the most prolific portraitists of the Victorian period.
