A rare hardback copy of this antique book by R.M.Ballantyne who also wrote Coral Island, the Dog Crusoe and Fighting the whales. Entitled the Lifeboat it is also described as a tale of our coast heroes and comes within the General or Schoolboy series. It contains a number of colour illustrations.

It was published by James Nisbet & Co circa 1888 as it is undated. The back section lists later books by R.M.Ballantyne and other authors suggesting this is not a first edition.

It is in very good condition with minimal wear on the spine and covers, as the pictures show the cover is well preserved and there is some minor scuffing on the back. Internally this shows some foxing on the leading pages and page edges.
