Thissilverplate plate or under plate is about 8 ¼ inches across, and has a fairlydeep center well, so I believe it is probably an under plate. It is marked “The Northern” on the front, andthe underside mark reads Great Northern Gorham Silver Soldered. I’m not sure if this is from the GreatNorthern Railway, or possibly a Great Northern Hotel or Restaurant.

Thepiece is heavy duty restaurant type silver plate and has a lot of surface wear and scratches, a few dark spots, and a few dents/dimples. The plating is worn away around the undersideedge.
