Q: What if I\'m having trouble keeping the incense lit?

A: Make sure you are using the correct base. Makko ash works very well. Tamp the makko so it makes a firm base. When you add incense to the mold shape use small quantities at a time and use the spoon to gently tamp down the incense to the level of the mold. Perform this slowly as a meditative exercise. Use a small piece of lit stick incense (1/4\") and place on top of one end of the shape. The incense will light from the ember on the stick and follow the trail.
