48-page book plus wraps that accompanied the landmark exhibition in 2012, displayed at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace (National Historic Landmark) I New York City, and the Oyster Bay Historical Society.
The exhibition was notable, among other citations, for gathering, for the first time since 1912, items associated with the attempt on Col. Roosevelt\'s life -- the gun; his bloody shirt; pages from his speech, and the metal eyeglass case, through which the bullet traveled; the glass X-ray plate of TR\'s chest; newspaper front pages about the attack; police photos of the would-be assassin; much more... all illustrated in the exhibition catalog.
Much more is featured: essays by co-curators Rick Marschall (who edited the catalog and can inscribe to the winning buyer if desired) and Greg Wynn; John A Gable, past president of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA); Terry Brown, then TRA president. Many reproductions of cartoons, photographs, campaign memorabilia, buttons, banners, handbills, songsheets, original cartoons, correspondence, post cards, many in full color. Special sections on Pres. William H Taft, Woodrow Wilson, and Eugene Debs, the Socialist candidate for the presidency.
Rare material, much of which has never appeared in print elsewhere, or since original appearances.
12 x 9 softback printed on heavy stock with board covers. Only a small print run was ordered, for the two showings, Long out of print. A must for TR collectors, or political memorabilia collectors.
