I bought this new and assume it was in the mid to late 1960\'s so the 1940-1970 time frame for the Category is an educated guess. It works fine and looks fine. I vaguely remember repairing a crack in the wood at the hinge withhot melt glue and it can barely be seen in the first photograph and at the very top of the last photograph. There is no visible crack on the outside of the box at the back.
