Three WW2 Era Vintage San Francisco S.F. Special Police Uniform Coat Buttons:
$3.99

sale!

Set of three Vintage / Antique San Francisco Special Police Buttons! Two small (about 1/2 inch)?and one large (about one inch.)

-

My grandfather owned the Home Clothing Company in San Francisco from the 1930s through to the late 1960s. He primarily sold custom uniforms for San Francisco and greater Bay Area fire, police and transportation fields. I am selling new unused patches and mostly brand new condition uniform coat buttons from his store inventory.

-

- What I\'m Selling:

This sale is for three (3) San Francisco Special Police (marked \"S.F. Special Police\" with a raised 6-pointed star in the middle) one large (about one inch in diameter) and two small (about 1/2 inch in diameter) silver-tone coat / uniform buttons. You will also be getting a clothing tag from Home Clothing (my grandfather\'s store) for provenance. Photos are with and without flash to show detail. There is some gold tone on the center star of these buttons. The buttons in this set have brass colored backs (the other set I have for sale now has silver colored backs and I believe this set is older.)

-

- Condition:

While the buttons in this sale are old/vintage they are in good shape for their age & the fact that they have been kicking around storage for 60+ years.  Each has varying tarnish or discoloration  - the shanks each are bent in varying degrees. The fronts of these buttons have some wear and the star on the front of one of the smaller ones is indented a bit however it is difficult to tell if that is all from use or partially a design variation on that button.

-

- Maker\'s Mark:

The back of each of the buttons has the \"Superior Quality\" mark on them.

-

- Age / Year Made

Year of manufacture is unknown and I have not been able to figure out the exact year-range based on the logo design, but I\'m sure someone else out there in land can! They would be likely from c.1937-1950 as that is the time range that my grandfather\'s shop was most active.

-

- Photos:

The first photos provided are of the actual buttons you will be getting, although we may have other similar items (I have multiples of many of the things).  I have several sets of buttons for sale right now and they appear to be of different ages.  The other photos show some of the larger collection and a few pieces of memorabilia I have that help to date the items - notably the tax permits for my grandfather\'s store from 1943 and 1947. This sale is for the three buttons only - not the additional items.
