DESCRIPTION:

This sale is for a beautiful Tony Evans raku pottery bowl signed in silver on the back \"Evans RAKU 19.\" Per online research, pieces were handmade when Tony Evans started Evans Ceramics in 1960 in California. Later they used Evans\' designs in mold-casts and staff executed the works. This piece, and a matching plate not offered here, are noted online to be from the 1980s or 1990s.Lower numbers indicate earlier made pieces, possibly. It\'s unusual to find an Evans bowl-shaped piece and at this low of a number. If you are fortunate enough to have the plate, this coordinating bowl is a \"must have.\"

The plate\'s top surface is two-thirds a smooth glossy brown, copper, red, and teal that flows like waves into a rough, matte dark-brown. The back is black. Possibly a copper glaze makes these colors when kiln fired. Photos just can\'t do justice to the shimmering, glossy, and deep matte surface textures and colors on this piece. Colors can vary from screen to screen. Questions before offerding are always welcomed.

CONDITION: This item is in good, vintage, pre-owned condition with no cracks or large chips. There are some small chips on the underside and 2 are visible from the side view, being near the rim. The matte brown has a some surface wear, but nothing that detracts very much. Any other irregularities in surface or shape would be from the handmade, raku process.

MEASUREMENTS/WEIGHT: This bowl measures about 12 1/2\" in diameter, stands about 2 1/4\" high, has a 6\" base, and weighs 2 pounds and 12 ounces before packaging.

SHIPPING: Buyer pays actual USPS Priority shipping costs as per \'s shipping calculator on the sale page. No handling fees. Fragile items are always extra-carefully packaged for shipping and will be mailed USPS Priority mail which includes free $50 insurance and tracking.
