A true couture chapeau from Christian Dior, Paris, Made in France, as stated on both of the labels. Dates to 1950 - 1951, a marvelous example of Dior\'s New Look era of millinery and fashion. Huge cartwheel wide brim spans almost 20\" across, made of natural black straw braid, a twisted cording, and black horsehair braid...a pretty pattern that casts a fabulous shadow across you face as you peek out from under the brim. The braid and ribbon intertwine and create a scallop shape to the brim\'s edge. So sultry and sexy, and yet ultra feminine. Shallow rounded crown, the hat can sit forward over the face and tilted, or pushed back, looks great any way you wear it. Two labels sewn in. One is the red, blue and white Flag of France which states \"made in France\". The other is a skinny ivory silk label which also says \"Made In France:, and Christian Dior - New York, Original Hat, Trademark\". This is a scarce label only used for maybe 1 or 2 years in Dior\'s early years in Haute Couture. A scarce find for the serious millinery collector and a great investment piece of fashion history. Priced well below market value, but I will entertain serious offers. Offers accepted must be paid for within 24 hours or the item will be put back up and relisted for sale.
