This is a very unusual piece of history. It is a Turkoman chuval that isbears a monogram, date (1968), and CCCP. It is most likely Tekke work,although it could have been done by aYomut - (assymetricknotswith the running dog border confuses the issue). Almost certainly woven in Turkmenistan at the height of Soviet power. Nice, plush wool. The design is well executed and the open field with the few spots of color is unusual, asare the designs woven on the flat weave back of the bag. It is a very interesting piece.
