Two (2) Antique Transferware Plates “Lucerne” Black & White w/Coral Highlights:

This is a pair of two (2) mid 19th century Ashworth Brothers “Lucerne” ironstone plates with black transfer and polychrome enamel highlights. Each measures approximately 10 3/4” in diameter. These festive plates feature a handsome center medallion surrounded by a wide bright coral border band featuring flowers and a continuous beaded trim motif punctuated by 5 symmetrical scroll and shell style emblems equidistantly spaced. There is a narrow lighter coral band at the outmost edge of the plate that does not wrap over the rim. One of the plates shows a couple of minor specks of misplaced transfer or other discoloration under the glaze. Both plates show light crazing. Very good condition for their age.
