Two Rare Unique Antique Brass Handcrafted and Painted Kabuki Theater Masks:

For your consideration is this Very Old and Unique Antique Set of Handcrafted Brass Kabuki (?) Theater Masks.The masks seem to be handcrafted of hammered brass. Each of the masks measures approximately 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. The origin and history of these masks is unknown, but the age and make of the masks shows in its condition and wear. The face of the masks show signs of layered paint colors with some paint loss down to the brass. There is some reinforcement/repair around the mouth and nose areas (likely due to facial moisture), along with some facial dents. Some of the original old chin and facial cloth is still attached with hand stitching (see photos). The top of the masks have punched holes for where the head cloth, etc. would have been attached. The overall condition of each of the mask is fair for there age. They have a wonderful patina that adds to the beauty and look of each piece. The mask are being sold as is.If they could speak, just imagine the stories these masks could tell!!!The Masks are very old and fragile.
