You are offerding on an U.S. Army Indian War Period Blue Wool Jacket with Yellow Piped Collar. Jacket has a six button front and the buttonholes are machine sewn. The six buttons on the front are 13/16th inch and do not have maker markings. The Collar is piped in yellow cord. There is evidence on both lower collars where insignia has been removed. The cuffs have three 9/16 inch size buttons with no maker markings. One can see where the yellow piping was removed from the lower cuffs. The piping was sewn three inches from the bottom of the cuffs. There is evidence where the jacket once had shoulder boards and the buttons that held them down. Both sleeves have three yellow and black piped chevrons that are hand sewn. The jacket is fully lined in a black muslin with one chest pocket and provisions in the collar to hang the coat from. The sleeves are fully lined with a white striped material. One sleeve is STENCIL marked: CARNIVAL COSTUME CO, COSTUMERS, MILWAUKEE, WIS. A computer search did not locate this company so I do not know when they were in business. This was a recent walk in to my military store.
