Staff Officers Insignia on Horse Martingale dated to1850-1870 perio . Exact same insignia as seen on many hat pins and other Civil War period items.3.5 X 3.75 inches at widest points. This one has seen lots of use yet two of three wires are still attached.Purchased at Farmington Ct. estate sale over 35 years ago along with GHG (Governors Horse Guard) belt buckle, CT. buttons and shoulder boards.
