Up for your consideration is a very SCARCE set made by Lionel in 1952, SET #2183WS. This is a relatively hard to find set and was high in the catalog roster of O Gauge sets in 1952. This set was made for one year only accounting for its relative scarcity today.The set consists of the hard to find 726 Berkshire with the 2046W Whistle Tender. The engine is in excellent condition with little signs of play wear, the tender is like new. It is equipped with headlight, smoke and whistle. All functions on the engine and tender pair work fine. The E unit cycles well, the headlight & smoke work and the whistle blows strongly. The engine box is a brick and has a very unusual FACTORY REPAIR TAG affixed to the box as shown in the pictures. This engine apparently was sent to the Lionel repair facility to be worked on thus accounting for the tag. It details information about the repair. This is a nice piece of Lionel History. The box also comes with a nice original insert. The tender\'s lettering is crisp & clear. The base is like new with shiny original black enamel paint on the bottom. There is no rust. The box is also very nice. There is no insert for the tender. Both boxes have flaps with crisp, clear lettering.It comes with a 3464 New York Central Operating Box Car in like new condition. The mechanism works fine with all four steps in tact. The graphics are crisp & clear. The box is the correct length with nice graphics.
Next in the consist is the 6465 Sunoco Two Dome Tank Car which is C-7 with nice silver. All graphics are nice with a nice box.
The 6462 New York Central Gondola is very nice and comes with five wooden barrels. The box is very nice as well.
The last car in the set is the 6457 Illuminated Lionel Lines Caboose. It is very nice and the light works. All steps, tool boxes, and ladders are intact.
The #2183WS Set Box is a C-9 with no major flaws. The graphics are superb, very hard to find in this condition. The set box is super. There is a small shipping label on the top of one corner. It comes with an Instruction Booklet and a Lionel Lockon. This is a well taken care of set and it shows. It was used not abused.Please look at all the photos for a vivid description.
