A Very Scarce andUNIQUE Vintage MULTIFACETED Bohemian PLAQUE 99 LP 30 with FLORAL DESIGN Art Glass Paperweight(Circa 1930)I see some light scratches and some tiny flea bites here and there. I also see some small dings here and there but mostly confined to the bottom, see Yellow Circle in picture # 9 and Yellow arrows in picture # 10. This is a Gorgeous Multifaceted Work of Art Glass. I am guessing here, but I image this weight was made for someone with the initials LP and unfortunately may have only lived 31 years from 1899 to 1930? I even believe this one has a White Halo floating over the Initials, which is very Lovely. These are 4 Large Size Multi Colored Morning Glories that are growing gently out of a Beautiful Rainbow Colored Cushion of frit glass ground. This could be a ONE-OF-A-KIND Paperweight. I consider this Very Scarce Paperweight to be in Good Original Antique Condition. The frosted flat bottom does show heavy shelf wear. This is a Huge Size Paperweight and it measures 4\" Diameter by 4 1/4\" Tall and weighs 3 pounds by itself.Please checkthe pictures for further description.TheStands are not part of this sale and were only used here for illustrative purposes. Some of this Wonderful Paperweights Fascinating History

This Art Glass Paperweight is from the lateWilliam Gaskill’s Cherished Collection. Mr. Gaskill was a former President ofthe National Paperweight Collectors Association (PCA) and an avid and veryastute Art Glass Paperweight Collector. After His passing, his collection wason loan (for approximately 3 years from 2006 to 2009) to the Museum of AmericanGlass (Wheaton Village) in Millville, NJ, which is now known as Wheaton VillageArts and Cultural Center. Mr. Gaskills highly regarded and very extensive ArtGlass Paperweight Collection was on display in their most prominent area of theMuseum at that time.

Just prior to being put on display at theMuseum, Lawrence Selman of the Renown L.H. Selman was commissioned to do anappraisal of the entire collection. Mr. Selman is known worldwide for hisexpertise in the field of Art Glass Paperweights and in 2001, Selman wasawarded the honor of being named by the Paperweight Collectors Association, oneof the Top Ten People of the 20th Century to influence thepaperweight art form.

Mr. Gaskill’s collection was considered to beone of the largest gatherings of Antique American Art Glass Paperweights knownto be in private hands. In 2009 a family member took possession of the entirecollection and it went safely and quietly into storage for approximately 6years, from 2009 to 2015.

In 2016 I was very proud and honored to havehad the opportunity to acquire a large portion of Mr. Gaskill’s Wonderful andCherished Art Glass Paperweight Collection. Many of William’s Amazing Pieceswill stay in my personal collection for safe keep, but with sadness some willbe offered up for sale here on over the next several months from hisFine Collection. Short History of Bohemian Paperweights

It’s sometimes said that the firstglass makers of paperweights were from Bohemia. I am sure if they were not thefirst Art Glass Paperweight makers, they were certainly the second ones toVenice Glass Makers. Glass Maker History back in the early to mid-1800’s was abit sketchy, but it’s widely believed that Bohemian weights were made from 1840’sto present. They made many different types of weights and most antique oneswere unsigned and simply attributed to Bohemian Glass Makers. Bohemian weights also encompasseda wide geographic area of Europe, that might have covered Austria, CzechRepublic, Germany, Poland and Slovakia areas by todays map.
