Description:

You are offerding on a very interesting item. It is a SAFETY POROUS ETHER SATURATOR made by IP CUTTS SUTTON & SON of SHEFFIELD-so marked as are the 2 brass screws with the TRY ME TRADE MARK symbol. Apparently this was used to SATURATE HYDROGEN with ETHER & used in LIMELIGHT THEATRE LIGHTING-hence the term \"In the LIMELIGHT\". This was found in a GREENHOUSE so maybe it was used to produce lighting there as it is portable. If I have got this totally wrong please tell me so I can amend the description. I did find a similar one in a Museum in New Zealand. It is in unrestored condition retaining some of the ORIGINAL GILDING but there are a lot of scratches etc on it as per the photos. PLEASE note that I am not an expert on this type of thing. Your comments would be welcomed & added to the listing. Approx 2900g unpacked. Approx 19\" long.
