The US Army in WW2 experimented with various new materials for canteens, including an early form of plastic known as \"ehtocel\".Ethocel canteens were only produced in limited numbers, making any surviving examples quite scarce today. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 EXPERIMENTAL PLASTIC ETHOCEL CANTEEN is in very good condition, with some light whitish \"fogging\" around the inside, missing the cork from the underside of the cap, and with some light overall scratching, spot soiling, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the canteen is in fine shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage to the semi-translucent ethocel construction. Most interestingly, itboasts the original scored black plastic cap, sports the classic \"ridge\" around the upper body, and is \"U.S.\" marked in relief at bottom, along with its maker and date, \"P.I. 1943\".
