US cavalrymen in the Great War were issued canvas and leather leggings, better suited to withstand the effects of saddle rot and horse sweat than the standard infantry version. This pair of US Army WW1 CAVALRY CANVAS + LEATHER LEGGINGS are in good condition, with a small hole and frayed edge at the lower left front, some greenish soiling at the interior left back, some scattered greenish soiling at the left front and the interior right back, three deep scratches in the upper left leather back, some wrinkling to the lower leather backs, some scattered nicking at front and back, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the leggings are in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough canvas construction. Most interestingly, they sport rugged brown leather backs, feature the original laces and bottom straps, and are marked at each interior upper back with their maker, \"F.M. HOYT SHOE CO.\", the Size, \"1\", \"BOSTON DEPOT\", and the date, \"MAY 1918\".
